I just left the most ridiculous inane voicemail. In my neverending job search I've been trying to network. One person agreed, thru another contact, to give me an informational interview. This person is kind of a big deal, a very big deal. After stalking them for several days and just getting the voicemail system I decided to finally leave a message - big mistake. I sounded like a blithering idiot and have further cursed my efforts to gain freedom from my current living situation and grinding poverty. Even while I was leaving the message I knew I was doomed. The ever critical voice in my head was screaming "What are you doing?!!!". And other snide commentary, like "This is painful." My voice strangely acquired this weird faltering and staccato quality, and I used um several times. Effective today I will no longer leave messages. If I absolutely must I vow to have a script ready.
